The EDN supports PhD students and Early Career Researchers through several of its programs.

• Most of the EDN supported conferences and workshops offer EDN funded travel scholarships for PhD students.
• In addition, the EDN funds a small number of international PhD travel scholarships to allow students to present their work at international conferences.
• The EDN Winter School is specifically designed for PhD students and Early Career Researchers.
• The EDN hosts a reception for EDN members and friends in conjunction with the international PhD job market held at the American Social Science Association Meetings in January each year. This reception brings together job market candidates (both Australian and international PhD's seeking positions) and Universities (both Australian and international) who are seeking to hire new graduates. The EDN reception is valuable in raising Australia's profile in the most important international market place for PhD graduates.
