| An Introduction to Experimental Economics for Environmental and Resource Economists |
Dates & Venue:05 Feb 2008 to 08 Feb 2008, Canberra
The workshop will consist of a series of presentations about experimental economics and market institutions, interspersed with demonstrations of various market institutions using experimental economics software. We will begin with basic market institutions, introducing posted offer and double auction markets. We then go on to discuss experiences in policy markets such as renewable energy and water. We will run simulations of renewable energy markets, demonstrating the impacts of alternative design features, and discuss lessons for other environmental markets.
The aim is to raise awareness and knowledge of experimental economics, and demonstrate how the experimental approach can be used to address a wide range of environmental and resource economics issues.

We have invited Dr. Begoña Dominguez, from the Economics Department at the University of Auckland, to lead a 15 hour course (10 hours of lectures plus 5 hours of computer tutorials) on the theory of recursive contracts. Our aim is to expose researchers and graduate students in the Australasian region to frontier knowledge that has yet to appear in the research and teaching of mainstream graduate economics programs.
